The sense and nonsense of CBD
FRESH VS DRY

The entourage effect is important. This is the synergy between the terpenes and the cannabinoids. The entourage effect is important. This is the synergy between the terpenes and the cannabinoids. The cannabinoids, terpenes and the other components of the plant together achieve a greater effect than the individual components.
In addition to the cannabinoids, the terpenes are also significant. Terpenes are the volatile substances that give each plant species its own distinctive smell and taste. For the entourage effect it is important to preserve as much of the terpenes as possible. We achieve this goal by working with fresh Flowers.
Almost all other production processes work with dried plant material. During the drying process, almost all terpenes are lost. Compare the smell of fresh plants with that of dried plants. Fresh plant material smells many times stronger.

SYNTHETIC CBD
In addition to natural cannabinoids, there are also synthetic cannabinoids. The cannabinoids attach to the CB1
and CB2 receptors in the human body. The big difference between natural and synthetic cannabinoids is that with synthetic cannabinoids no plant has been used to develop this. It is developed in a lab, but not always under the right conditions. The process is prone to errors and there are many documented cases of synthetic cannabinoid poisoning.1,2
The effect of synthetic cannabinoids can be much stronger than natural cannabinoids, but due to the toxic effects it can have on humans, they can be potentially dangerous.

SHOULD THC BE 0%?
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is a psychoactive compound that naturally occurs in cannabis plants and also in fiber hemp plants. But because the THC concentrations in fiber hemp plants are so low, it will not have a psychoactive effect on the human body. THC is the compound found in high concentrations in marihuana plants and is widely used for recreational purposes. Because of the psychoactive effect of the substance THC, weed/marihuana is included on list 1 of the Opium Act. But THC also serves a purpose in the hemp plant and is part of the entourage An entourage effect means that the ingredients have their own effect, but there is also a synergy: the substances can enhance each other’s effect. For that reason, a full spectrum CBD oil is preferred.
Small amounts of THC in food supplements are allowed in the Netherlands, a maximum of 0.05%.
